“Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.”
It was Audrey’s third Christmas and Marcy decided it was time to set up the manger her grandmother had given her as a teenager. She lovingly arranged each piece in the perfect place, smiled, and turned to finish the rest of the decorations. The next morning, she warned Audrey not to touch the manger pieces. Throughout the day, Marcy peeked at the set to make sure it was still intact. “So far, so good,” she thought, but when she entered the living room the next morning, someone had moved the manger pieces. All the pieces now closely surrounded baby Jesus! After waking Audrey, she asked, “Can you tell me what happened to the manger set, Audrey?”
“Oh, Mommy, everyone needed to see Jesus! They were too far away!” replied her sweet baby voice.
How often we forget everyone needs to see Jesus. How does the world view Him, but through His Word and our actions? Our actions and speech may be exactly what someone needs to plant the seed, water it, or harvest the fruit of eternal life. May we be ever mindful of God’s leading so that others might understand Him and be brought closer to His presence!
Praying that you will draw near to the baby Jesus born in Bethlehem as you celebrate His birth. Have a blessed Christmas!
